Form builder overview

The form builder is where you design a Pristo CX questionnaire: its pages, questions, conditions, languages and look. To open it, go to Management, then Questionnaires, and select Edit questionnaire on the questionnaire’s card. The builder opens in the questionnaire’s Edit questionnaire tab. Account admins and program admins can use the form builder.

A questionnaire holds a chapter, and the chapter holds pages. Respondents leave the pages through an exit point, which shows the end page and records a status on the response.A questionnaire holds a chapter, and the chapter holds pages. The Share tab next to Edit questionnaire holds the questionnaire’s links. If a questionnaire has no content yet, Pristo CX first asks you to start from a blank questionnaire or a template, as described in Create a questionnaire. To leave the builder, select Back to all questionnaires above the tabs.

The form builder saves your work on its own: every minute, when you move the pointer out of the builder, and before it opens a preview or publishes. To save at once, select the Save icon in the header or press Ctrl+S.

In this release, the side menu has no button for exit points. Set up the end page and exit points explains how to reach them.

A bar above the questions shows the number of the page you are on and how many pages there are, counting the end page. It holds the page names, the end page tab after the last page, the ADD PAGE button and the page width. Below the bar, each page holds sections, and each section holds questions in rows.

  • To add a question, point between two rows and select the plus sign. The list of question types opens; see Question types.
  • To add a section, select Add new section.
  • To change a question or section, select it. Its settings open in the settings panel.
  • To work with pages, see Add and organize pages in a questionnaire.

The editor has these keyboard shortcuts:

Shortcut Action
Ctrl+S Save now
Ctrl+Z Undo
Ctrl+Y Redo
Ctrl+D Duplicate the selected question, row or section
Ctrl+M Move to page

You always edit a draft. New respondents get the last published version, so your changes reach them when you publish. A published version opens read-only, with the notice This version is already published. To edit it click the "Edit" button. To change it, select Edit in the header. Publish a questionnaire explains versions.

The form builder opens on any screen size and adapts its layout to the space it has:

Screen Layout
A large computer screen The settings panel stays open beside the editor
A smaller computer screen, or a tablet held sideways The settings panel folds into a tab on the side. Select the tab to open or close it
A phone, or a tablet held upright The settings panel opens full screen when you select an element. The back arrow returns to the editor

On most tablets, the header hides the version menu and search, and on a phone it also hides undo and redo. For the full set of tools, use a computer or a large tablet.
